Forgotten Books of the Bible Part 2
Forgotten Books seeks to familiarize participants with some of the less read sections of the TaNaKh. In this second part we will examine the books of 2nd Samuel & Kings 1 & 2. We will study the historical account of the sections, including alliances, theology, the forces of assimilation, and religious changes to Judaism. We will also take a deep look at the main characters in these sections – what motivates them, are they archetypal, do they change the course of events or are they merely pawns in a Divine plan. Careful attention will also be paid to the power dynamics within Israelite society and other surrounding historical developments.
Wednesday afternoons starting October 14 at 1:30 pm.
