Jews and Genes: Jewish Medical Ethics in the contemporary Genetic Frontier


What does Judaism have to say about the genetic revolution which is only beginning to unfold? With the mystery of the human genome being decoded, understanding of diseases changing, and genetic enhancement possible how will Jewish ethics help define science, our public policy, and our own decisions about the moral boundaries and opportunities presented by genetic science.

This course will explore five main topics in contemporary genetics: 

1) Stem Cells  2) Genetic Mapping and Identity 3) Genetic Testing  4) Genetic Intervention 5) Genetics and Public Policy.

Based on the new book edited by Rabbi Elliot Dorff and Laurie Zoloth

Wednesday evenings starting October 14 at 7:30 pm.
